The OnePlace Solution server component is an optional extension, only required for SharePoint 2007 and is installed on SharePoint web-front-end server/s.
If the SharePoint on premise server includes libraries with BCS columns, the server component will need to be installed.
The server component must be installed on all web-front end servers, including the server where central administration is installed.
