Upgrading R6.1| R6.2 | R6.3 | R6.4 | R6.5 | R6.6 | R7.0 to the current release

Upgrading to OnePlace Solutions Release 7.x from release 6.1 through to R6.6 is supported and will migrate existing configuration settings where possible.

warning

When upgrading to R7.x, it is necessary to create a new license list and request a new key. For information on how to create a new license list, please click here.

Pre-requisites

Ensure all client installations have the OnePlace Solutions pre-requisites of .NET Framework 4.0 and VSTO installed.

Upgrade process

Please read the upgrade considerations before proceeding:

  1. Plan and communicate your upgrade to end users and review upgrade considerations
  2. For R6.6 and below clients , uninstall the current release of OnePlaceMail and Productivity Tools (manually via Add/Remove programs or via an .msi paramater)
  3. If upgrading from R7.0 (or above), the new version can be installed over the top of the current version.
  4. Install R7.x (.exe setup wizard or using .msi files using Enterprise Deployment instructions.)
  5. When Outlook is first launched, the configuration settings will be processed/migrated.

Upgrading to current release where previous server components are installed

Some client environments may have OnePlaceMail server components installed from an earlier release of OnePlaceMail.  These are not required as at Release 6 onward and can be removed (unless you are still running SharePoint 2007 or have been directed by technical support to retain the components).

note

It is recommend to uninstall server components if they're still installed.

Scenario 1: Remove Server Components:

  1. Leave the existing server components installed on the WFE/SharePoint servers (temporarily)
  2. Upgrade client installations, using the MSI (not exe/setup wizard), using parameters:
    note

Please note the license location needs to be set for each MSI that is deployed. If the license location is not included, the software will not be licensed correctly.

If using OnePlaceMail and OnePlaceDocs only:

    OnePlaceMail_Office2013.msi /quiet LicenseLocation="http://yourSPserver/lists/license" ForceClientOnly="1"
    OnePlaceDocs_Office2013.msi /quiet LicenseLocation="http://yourSPserver/lists/license" ForceClientOnly="1"

If using OnePlaceLive, in conjunction with OnePlaceMail and OnePlaceDocs - set the license location and OnePlaceLive site:

    OnePlaceMail_Office2013.msi /quiet LicenseLocation="http://yourSPserver/lists/license" SettingsUrl="http://yourSPserver/sites/OnePlaceLiveSolution" ForceClientOnly="1"
    OnePlaceDocs_Office2013.msi /quiet LicenceLocation="http://yourSPserver/lists/license" SettingsUrl="http://yourSPserver/sites/OnePlaceLiveSolution" ForceClientOnly="1"

The OnePlaceLive client only needs to be installed for solution architects responsible for creating OnePlaceLive Solution Profiles for publishing to the OnePlaceLive service.
    OnePlaceLive.msi /quiet LicenceLocation="http://yourSPserver/lists/license" SettingsUrl="http://yourSPserver/sites/OnePlaceLiveSolution" ForceClientOnly="1"

  3. Once all client installs are upgraded (with the ForceClientOnly switch), the server component can be uninstalled from all WFE/SharePoint servers.

Scenario 2: Retain Server Components:

  1. Uninstall the existing version of Server Components (on each front end web server installed via add/remove programs)
  2. Download and install the latest server components (see Server component in SP2007 - also contains 2010 & 2013 if required)
  3. Once all front-end web servers containing server components have been updated, upgrade client installations using the MSI files or download the latest software.
